Lisjak family has been producing quality wines in the Karst (Kras) for almost 200 years. Boris, the current head of the Lisjak family winery in Dutovlje, is a multiple award-winning wine producer with a genuine passion for one of the nature’s most precious gifts – grapes. His Sara wine is a combination of 3 very popular red grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Teran. Its rich taste can be attributed to the fact that the wine matures in oak barrels for 6 years and in the bottle for one additional year before offered to the public.
This process accentuates the natural taste of the grapes, which thrive in the region’s special mineral-rich soil, known as “terra rossa” (red soil). The Sara cuvée from 2005 earned Boris Lisjak two important awards in 2014 at two prestigious international wine competitions taking place in Slovenia (Ljubljana Vino, Vino Slovenije), leaving no doubt that the wine is top-notch. Lisjak’s Sara 2005 comes in an exquisite bottle, designed by one of the best Slovenian industrial designers Oskar Kogoj.
